Why is he doing this..............?

My husband had a job that required him to spend months out of state. He started in March of this year. We we're not happy about that so he said he will leave the job once the time came for him to leave which was the end of May. Well he ended up leaving the state for the job, without saying goodbye to me our boys, who are 5 and 9 yrs old. I found out the hard way, instead of quitting he never came home that night. I ended up getting in tough with him. After a week of arguing back and forth because of course to feel better about what he did, he had to blame me, he ended up saying that he wanted us to move up where his job was. We had a rocky marriage and fought alot. He didn't like the fact that I supported the family and wanted to move ahead in his career. He hated where we lived and wanted to move back up north. He ended up losing the job and blamed me for it. to be honest, I did call there after he never came home to find out what was going on. For a month he hasn't called the children at all, when I've tried by emailing him, I told him its one thing not to want to be with me anymore, but at least call to speak to the boys, but he ignores me. Why do you think he's neglecting his children? Im a pharmacist, so financially im ok, he doesnt help out financially at all.
