Going to the beach with your period...?

ok so tomorrow i may go to the beach with my boyfriend but i'm on my period....grrrr i'm afraid a tampon may leak and i have a white bathing suite :( also heard the blood can attract sharks... that doesn't make me feel too good any suggestions?
