I need a real Dr. or Pharmacist to answer this...honestly?

I know that you are supposed to take Zithromax for the full 5 days but if I take it for 3...won't it still be fine? Isn't the extra few days just a precaution? I'm 110 lbs and this stuff is making me feel awful. Can't I stop but still be rid of the Pertussuis bacteria?
